It turns out I've had a passion for photography since I was seven years old growing up in France. At the time I had no idea this attraction would one day become a successful career.
During my senior year of high school I had the opportunity to be involved with the ground breaking film TRON. This exposure to the world of computer animation motivated me to study Graphic Design and Visual Communication at UCLA.
This learning experience eventually led me to camera work with a focus on news, current events, and documentaries.
During this time I covered events such as the Mexico City Earthquake (1985), the Exxon Valdez Oil spill (1989), and the Los Angeles Riots (1992).
Around the same time I also DPd dozens of performance music videos for a music show about the Los Angeles underground music scene called MusiCalifornia.
Telling stories is something that has always been with me but communicating them visually is a skill that has developed over time.
Exposure to a multitude of situations and locations over the years has strengthened my sense of how to best convey a mood or a feeling, and therefore, how to shoot it.

Exposure to a multitude of situations and locations over the years has strengthened my sense of how to best convey a mood or a feeling, and therefore, how to shoot it.
In the reality realm I have DPd competition shows, docu-drama, comedy, travel, cooking, relationship, game shows, investment, social experiment, animal rescue, you name it.
So my approach to storytelling really is about what feels right. Does it make sense to shoot a scene handheld or on tripod? Should the camera precede or follow?
Very often in documentary work and reality tv what feels right demands on-the-fly decisions.
Finally,I believe in always taking advantage of what a location has to offer and making the most out of it by using its best light and layout.
In the past few years I have been transitioning to directing and that has given me a new outlook on my craft and a refreshed boost to both my DP and storytelling skills.
It is very rewarding to be more closely involved with the behind-the-scenes process of creating content and to be able to pitch ideas at a Network level.

Also, my experience as a Director of Photography has made it easy to bridge the gap between the producers and the camera , grip and lighting departments.
